Nominations Sought for Mellon Awards

Nominations for the 2012 USC Mellon Mentoring Awards will be accepted through Feb. 27. Awardees will be announced at the end of March and honored at a ceremony to be held April 23.

The awards, given annually since 2005, have recognized the contributions of nearly 160 individual faculty and six programs.

All tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty members are eligible to be nominated for the awards in four categories: faculty mentoring faculty; faculty mentoring postdoctoral scholars; faculty mentoring graduate students and faculty mentoring undergraduate students. An award also will be given to a department or school that effectively fosters a culture of mentoring.

USC’s mentoring effort is supported by the provost and the Academic Senate, as well as by a six-year grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

The university’s mentoring programs are coordinated by the USC Mellon Mentoring Forum, which is chaired by Timothy Pinkston, co-chaired by Erica Muhl and supported by Beth Meyerowitz.
