With more than a dozen titles in this series, Robert B. Kaplan, professor emeritus of applied linguistics, and his co-editor have compiled information on the current language situations in nations around the world, from contributing authors who are generally indigenous to the countries under inspection and are active participants in the language-planning context. With several volumes each on Asia, Europe, Africa, Latin America, the Pacific and other regions, the authors explore the many language-related issues in the respective countries, including language in education planning, the role of the media and religion and the roles of non-indigenous languages.
