In the past 10 years, the number of women and girl gamers has risen considerably, but gender disparities remain. This book explores how assumptions about gender, games and technology shape the design, development and marketing of games as the industry seeks to build the female market. The contributors, who represent a wide range of disciplines, include Tracy Fullerton, assistant professor in the USC School of Cinematic Arts’ Interactive Media Division and co-director of the Electronic Arts Game Innovation Lab; Mizuko Ito of the USC School of Cinematic Arts and USC Annenberg; and Jacki Morie of USC’s Institute for Creative Technologies.
