Yortsos Meets D.C. Lawmakers

The new federal stimulus package dominated the discussion of the American Society for Engineering Education’s 2009 Engineering Deans Council Public Policy Colloquium in mid-February, reported USC Viterbi School of Engineering Dean Yannis Yortsos, who attended the meeting.
The colloquium, held at the National Academies building, was an opportunity for engineering deans to learn about government budget priorities for engineering and science education and research. During the second day of the meeting, the deans visited Capitol Hill to explain to lawmakers the importance of these topics.
“The re-emergence of science and engineering at the forefront of the battle for the economic recovery augurs positively for the future of the nation,” Yortsos said.
