USC Rossier Professors Talk Leadership

USC Rossier School of Education professors Pedro Garcia and David Dwyer gave presentations at a Sept. 25 symposium in Sacramento titled “Leading and Learning in California Schools: Preparing and Supporting Effective School Leaders.”
The audience included representatives from schools of education, school districts and policymakers from across the state.
Garcia EdD ’83, professor of clinical education and an executive in residence, delivered the keynote address, “Effective Leaders Create Highly Functioning Learning Organizations.”
Dwyer, USC’s new holder of the Katzman-Ernst Chair in Educational Entrepreneurship, Technology and Innovation, gave a presentation on new models for education, focusing on the need for technology to create flexibility.
The symposium was sponsored by the research center Policy Analysis for California Education and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
