February 5, 2009 11:10 AM
USC School of Social Work Dean Marilyn Flynn, vice dean Paul Maiden and director of Military Social Work and Veteran Services Jose Coll met with officials at the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Defense, and congressional staffers from the House Veterans Affairs Committee, the office of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and the office of Rep. Susan Davis (D-Calif.) to discuss the university’s military social work programs on Jan. 26-27.
“The interest in addressing needs of wounded warriors is intense in Washington, both on the Hill and in the Department of Defense,” Flynn said. “It is exciting to respond to this interest with all the creative energies available at USC. I believe we will make a difference.”
